Bethlehem   Live

HISTORY

The first Bethlehem event was held in November, 2007 and organized by a group of individuals that saw the event as a great way to bring the True Christmas story to Moosomin and area. It provides a live, interactive outdoor reenactment of the journey to the Manger to celebrate the birth of Jesus by telling the story of the First Christmas with joy and conviction. The whole project has been embraced by the larger community; it's supported through local churches and is championed by interested individuals and organizations who want to celebrate the birth of Christ.

A strong core committee leads each year’s event, along with approximately seventy cast members consisting of Centurions, Guides, Soldiers, Prophets, Bandits, Shepherds, Beggars, Merchants, Tax Collectors, Inn Keepers and the nativity – Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus, along with animals such as sheep, donkeys, horses and llamas.

When you arrive for the evening event you will be entertained with music from local artists as you wait to be called out to go to Bethlehem. The journey will take you approximately twenty minutes and then you are invited back in the hall for a cup of coffee and birthday cake.
