To thank the pipeliners, the Moosomin Chamber of Commerce and the town of Moosomin recreation department are planning a Pipeliner Appreciation Day for this Sunday, November 25, Grey Cup Sunday. Borderland Co-op is helping sponsor the barbecue portion of the day.

Pipeliners will be invited to the Nutrien Sportsplex for a free afternoon of full use of the Sportsplex, from billiards to sports simulators.

There will also be a barbecue and Grey Cup Party at the Conexus MCC Centre—$5 for a burger or smokie for the public, free for pipeliners, with proceeds going for more improvements at the Sportsplex.

The Grey Cup Party is open to the public as well as pipeliners, and will feature the game on a 30-foot screen at the Conexus MCC Centre. “This is our way of saying thanks for making our community home for a few months—and hopefully helping them feel at home,” said Kevin Weedmark of the Moosomin Chamber of Commerce.

The idea came up when Bill Thorn suggested it to the chamber. The chamber got behind it at the September chamber meeting and the town and Borderland Co-op have been fully supportive as well. A committee of Bill Thorn, Mike Schwean, Heather Truman and Kevin Weedmark are planning the event.

The event will be the first of a few chamber events in the coming weeks. Other upcoming events include:
