There are a lot of events coming up this week to kick off the Christmas shopping season in local communities.

Moonlight Madness - November 28
The Moosomin Chamber of Commerce is planning its Moonlight Madness promotion this Wednesday, Nov. 28.
From 5-9 pm, shoppers can pick up a cash card from participating businesses, have it stamped at that business, make a purchase and have it stamped at four more restaurants or stores, and enter to win $500, $250, or $100 in Moosomin Bucks.

The staff at Flaman in Moosomin are putting together a Christmas hay ride to take children and families on rides during Moonlight Madness. The hay ride will be leaving from the Co-op Marketplace Foods parking lot, and there will be hot chocolate. Everyone is asked to have their Christmas lights on Wednesday evening, and there will be a prize for the best Christmas display!

The Moosomin 4-H Multi Club will be going around town carolling during Moonlight Madness.

Also during Moonlight Madness, Borderland Co-op’s mascot Cooper will be making the rounds of the stores with a Santa sack full of coupons and offers from local businesses.
Wawota Santa Day - November 30
Wawota businesses will be hosting a Santa Day this Friday, November 30, from 4-8 pm.

There will be photos with Santa 5-7 pm. New this year is a Santa letter station.

Meanwhile at the Wawota Curling Rink, there will be an opportunity to try curling starting at 5 pm, and the kitchen will be open, serving pizza by the slice.

Moosomin Santa Day - December 1
It’s an event that attracts hundreds of kids each year. Moosomin will hold its Santa Day on Saturday, Dec. 1.

The Kinettes are organizing photos with Santa from 9 am to noon at the Moosomin Armoury, on the corner of Mark Avenue and Birtle Street.

The cost is $10 per photo or $20 for three poses. The Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a matinee performance of the new Grinch movie at the Moosomin Community Theatre that afternoon.

When children visit with Santa, they will receive a pass to see the movie for free, and get a free small popcorn at the movie.
