110 charges laid in highway traffic blitz

A Traffic Enforcement Project was conducted last week by the Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan, which included members of the Regina Police Service, RCMP Traffic Services from Broadview, Moosomin, Carlyle, Weyburn and Estevan.

There was also members of Saskatchewan Highway Patrol, and a Revenue Enforcement Officer working the project from March 18th to the 21st, on the Trans Canada Highway around Moosomin and Broadview.

A checkstop for impaired drivers and commercial vehicle inspections were conducted at the Weigh Scale near Moosomin and one driver was charged for illegal possession under the Cannabis Control Act.

Roving patrols were also done and after the four days more than 20 drivers were charged for failing to slow to 60 km/h when passing an emergency vehicle or tow truck with its lights activated.

There were also 50 speed related charges, 9 seat belt violations, 10 fail to stop (stop sign), 4 suspended drivers taken off the road and 16 charges for vehicle equipment violations.
