At the midway point of the voting period for the Richardson Pioneer Rider Nation Community Celebration the battle for $100,000 and provincial bragging rights is heating up with over 55,000 votes made for the eight short-listed communities.

Voting continues through Wednesday, September 11.

At the half-way point of the contest, Moosomin is in third place in the Rider Nation Community Challenge.

The winning community will receive $50,000 for a health and wellness initiative, while the two runner-ups will each receive $25,000. Each of the top three communities will also host a party this fall during a Roughrider away game to show off their pride for the Celebration in Rider Nation.

"The communities have done a great job and voting is extremely tight, in some cases only separated by a few hundred votes so we expect a lot of movement in the standings between now and September 11th. The race is going to go right down to the wire," comments Craig Fiske, who chairs the volunteer committee looking after the contest.

4) Assiniboia
5) Unity
6) Whitewood
