16-year-old killed in snowmobile collision

A 16-year-old lost his life in a snowmobile collision at Duck Mountain Provincial Park on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at approximately 3:45 pm, Swan River RCMP received a report of a snowmobile collision involving a semi- trailer, on a logging road in Duck Mountain Provincial Park.
The initial investigation has determined that two snowmobiles were going north on a logging road when one of the snowmobilers collided with a semi-trailer travelling south.
The driver of the snowmobile, a 16-year-old male, from the RM of Minitonas-Bowsman, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The other snowmobiler, a 17-year-old male, was not injured or involved in the collision.
The driver of the semi-trailer, a 32-year-old male from the RM of Swan Valley West, was not injured.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
Swan River RCMP along with a Traffic Analyst, continue to investigate.
