Applications open for med students, retired doctors to volunteer

Applications are open for anyone with medical experience to volunteer to provide backup support in the fight against COVID-19.

Health Canada has set up a database of specialized volunteers, who provinces and territories can then use for various tasks, including contact tracing of Covid-19 cases and providing surge capacity at hospitals.

"It's asking people who have the skill set to do public health, like contact-tracing and other skills that provinces are looking for, to apply," said chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam.

Applications are open until April 24
