Town of Moosomin puts water restrictions in place
June 6, 2017, 10:54 am
The town of Moosomin has put watering restrictions in place because of the hot, dry weather.
People are asked not to water their lawns during the day - between 8 am and 8 pm - until further notice, to preserve water.
The full text of the town's public notice follows:
Due to the hot and dry weather that we have been experiencing the past short while, the Town of Moosomin Water Plant is nearing capacity to keep up with production of potable water.
We want to ensure there is water available for human consumption, and water reserve in case of fire, and therefore request that residents/businesses do not water grass between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm.
It is during this hottest period of the day, that the water evaporates and therefore needs significantly more water to achieve the same results as watering in the evening.
It is expected that this daytime ban will remain in effect for the entire summer season, however, if it is lifted notice will be given to the public.
