Generals top RMFL standings

October 2, 2017 6:10 pm

The Moosomin Generals are sitting atop the Rural Manitoba Football League standings with four wins and no losses.

The Dauphin Clippers and Parkwest Outlaws are both sitting at three wins and one loss, the Virden Golden Bears, Southwest Sabres and Neepawa Tigers each have two wins and two losses, and the Swan Valley Tigers and East Parkland Warriors are both sitting at 0 and 4

The Moosomin Generals have scored 242 points against their opponents so far this year, and their opponents have scored 80 points against the Generals.

Since the Generals joined the RMFL they have been improving each year. They made it to the semifinal in 2015, then made it to the league final last year where the score was tied 6-6 with nine minutes to go. The Dauphin Clippers scored two quick touchdowns in the final minutes of the game to take the league championship.

When the Generals met the Dauphin Clippers Sept. 21 in Dauphin, the Generals prevailed 74-34, the first time they have ever defeated the Clippers, who had dominated the league in recent years. Dauphin had only lost one game in the last three years before they were defeated by the Generals.

This Friday night the Generals play host to the 2-and-2 Virden Golden Bears at the Battlefield. Game time is 7 pm
