Rink closing soon, will reopen August 31

At their meeting on Thursday, Esterhazy town council passed a motion to close the Dana Antal Arena for the season on April 2, and to re-open it for the 2026-2027 winter season on August 31.

“We have had some requests for ice time in September, so council did approve that,” says CAO Tammy MacDonald. Asphalt surfacing contract awarded Council also passed a motion to award Water Treatment Plant Contract #10 for Asphalt Surfacing to Fedorowich Construction out of Yorkton. The contract was put out to tender and consists of repaving an intersection where the street had to be dug up to put in a water main
for the new water treatment plant. The cost of the work
will be $150,000.

Last Wednesday at around 8 pm, the Whitewood Fire Department responded to a semi crashing into a commercial building on the east side of Whitewood. The accident knocked the power out to the town of Whitewood for over six hours.

The slip form is being poured for the south headframe at the K3 expansion at Esterhazy. Rising at 6.5 inches an hour in a continuous pour, it will take 24 days to reach its full height. The north headframe at K3, at 380 feet, is the tallest structure in Saskatchewan.
