Swiegers, Lawrence say Olympics a dream come true

2014-01-15 15:18:08

Local pairs skaters Paige Lawrence and Rudi Swiegers are going to the Olympics.
After years of hard work, the pair—who hail from Kennedy and Kipling—were selected at the national championships in Ottawa on Saturday, Jan. 11 as one of three pairs to represent Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
“It’s such a cliché answer, but it’s a dream come true and right now I honestly can’t wrap my head around the whole concept of the Olympics,” said Lawrence.
“But I just know that I’m really, really happy, and I’m so thankful to be able to say that I have finally reached my goal. I am very excited and very thankful.”
“It’s a dream come true, and excitement is really the only word you can use to describe it, if you are going to even attempt it,” said Swiegers.
