Saltcoats man arrested on several charges

2014-02-19 08:44:07

On February 14th, 2014, 38 year old Nathan Penner from Saltcoats was arrested by the Yorkton Rural RCMP on allegations of Obstructing Justice, Intimidation of a Justice System Participant, Luring a Child and 7 breaches of his Undertaking.

In August of 2013, Penner was initially arrested and charged with Sexual Interference and Invitation to Sexual Touching on a 14yr old victim. Penner was released before a Justice of the Peace on several conditions, including to abstain from communication with the victim and any other persons under the age of 16 unless in the presence of an adult. At the end of January, 2014, Penner allegedly created a false social media profile in order to make contact with the victim. Penner attempted to persuade the victim to drop the charges from August 2013. The Internet Child Exploitation Unit along with the Yorkton Provincial General Investigation Section assisted in the investigation that lead to the arrest of Penner and the execution of a search warrant on his business in Saltcoats.

Penner has been charged with the following offences:

Obstructing the Course of Justice
Intimidation of a Justice System Participant
Invitation to Sexual Touching
Sexual Interference
Luring a Child
Breach of Undertaking x 7

Penner remains in police custody; his next court appearance is scheduled for February 20, 2014.
