Krista Cecile was born May 23, 1986 to Murray and Alison Lucas and welcomed by older sister, Randi. After spending her early years growing up in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, the Lucas family moved to Moosomin in time for

Krista to start Kindergarten.

Krista met the love of her life, Kurt Russell, when she was in Grade 9.

After finishing high school, she attended Business Administration in Brandon, Manitoba, but then returned to Moosomin to work at Andrew Agencies as an insurance agent.

Their lives changed when they welcomed first daughter, Gracy, September 2, 2008. With Gracy in their arms, Kurt and Krista were married Vegas style on January 10, 2010. Krista was a proud mom and enjoyed the adventure of motherhood. They were overjoyed to welcome a second daughter, Claire, a couple years later on April 7, 2012. Returning to work after maternity leave, Krista decided to make a career change and move to the Conexus Credit Union, recently taking on the Virtual Business Advisor position in the branch. Krista was happiest spending time with her favorite people, cheering on her kids and nephews at the rink in the winter, and enjoying the golf course and camping in the summer.

Krista passed away on August 2, 2022 at the age of 36 after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her spirit and legacy by living their lives to the fullest:

Her husband, Kurt, and daughters Gracy and Claire, her parents Murray and Alison Lucas, her sister Randi (Ryan and nephews Dayton and Dane) Thorn, paternal grandmother Dorothy Zwaal, parents-in-law Keith and Danette Russell, sister-in-law Kendra (Justin and nephews Blake and Brody) Young. There are also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who are left to mourn her loss while celebrating her wonderful light.

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Oncology Department at Pasqua Hospital, or local organizations her daughters were involved with including the Moosomin Skating Club, Moosomin Minor Ball, or Moosomin Minor Hockey.
