Jeannine Bernadette Bowey was born in Russell on September 21, 1950 and passed away at 71 years old on July 21, 2022, in Moosomin Hospital in the Palliative Care Unit with her loving husband, Don, at her side.

Jeannine was the oldest of Herve Plante and Cecile (Chartier) Plante’s six children. She had four brothers, Bernard (Carol), Roger (deceased) (Pam), Alphonse, and Henri (deceased). She only had one sister, Orise (Ken-deceased).

Her extended family included two sisters-in-law, Anne Huybrechts and Jamie Markert. She had many nieces and nephews.

Jeannine was raised on a farm between Binscarth and St. Lazare. Her parents farmed there until retiring in St. Lazare in 1969. She took her schooling in St. Lazare. Jeannine had a very distinctive mothering personality; she was a caregiver to her family when her mother was ill until June 1970 when she married the love of her life, Donald Bowey of Welwyn.

They began their life together on a farm in the Welwyn district. She loved her duties on the farm, especially the livestock and helping operate equipment alongside her husband. Everyone knows her drive for perfection and she had the most beautiful yards. She had an exceptional gift of horticulture and had some of the best flower beds and shrubs in the community. She loved the outdoors and took the time to appreciate all of nature, from flowers to wildlife.

Jeannine and Don have one son—Kevin, born in 1973 whom she loved very dearly. Mothering made her so happy, she always tried to be the most supportive and caring parent possible. To her delight, she gained a daughter-in-law, Jocelyn.

She was over the moon when she welcomed her granddaughter Kaylee Jean to the family. Jeannine proudly showed videos, photos, and stories of her and how quickly she was growing up. She really cherished every moment of being a grandparent. She loved to do arts and crafts, dance, and play games with Kaylee. These moments truly made her shine.

Jeannine had a very kind soul, never placed any malice, nor judgement. She was always true to herself and accepted all of us, even our flaws. She made friends easily and could strike up a conversation with anyone. She was very involved in the community and belonged to many groups, helping, organizing, donating food and time, to all.

Even in the end, she had so much to say. She visited with so many friends and family and kept a brave face even though she was in great pain. She wanted to be sure that anyone who visited knew how much she thought of them and what they meant in her life.

She fell in love with Lake of the Prairies on a trail ride and later purchased a lot there and made it her place to relax. Take in the view there and think of her. You will be truly missed Jeannine, rest in peace.

Fondly remembered by Don, Kevin, Jocelyn, Kaylee, and all family and friends.
