With saddened hearts, we announce the passing of a very dear mother, special Nan and Great-Nan.

Phyllis is survived by her son Tom (Arline) and her daughter Jane.
She is fondly remembered by grandsons Shawn, Chris and Dalton, by great-granddaughters Logan, Lily, Sierra and great-grandson Alex.
She leaves memories with many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces, and great-great nephews and nieces.

Phyllis was born to Edith and Stanley Brown and raised on the farm west of Moosomin in the Coppice Hill School District.

She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Earl, her son Bob, her older brother Leslie (Eleanor) and younger brother Roy (Margaret).
Phyllis was a one-of-a-kind lady whose positive outlook on life, set the example for her children and grandchildren to follow.

Her strong work ethic and moral values were evident throughout her amazingly long life.

Born and raised on the prairies, Phyllis relished in recounting fond memories of her childhood on the farm.

She learned how to be a good neighbour and to help others by watching and helping her Mom.

Shortly after Phyllis and Earl were married, they settled in Port McNicoll, Ontario where Phyllis applied her excellent cooking and baking skills while they operated the Port McNicoll Hotel. Their clients were the men who worked for the CP Rail and CP ships.

In the early 1950’s, never afraid of work, Phyllis began her long career in hairdressing, owning and operating Fisher’s Beauty Shoppe in Midland, Ontario.

Customers were always made to feel at home and were often served tea and homemade cookies along with their fresh hairdo. Customers were not just customers; they became friends for life.

She continued “doing hair” well into her 90’s.

Phyllis’ happiness revolved around people and animals and how to help them.
Tom, Bob and Jane’s friends remark that the door was always open, no matter what hour.

She loved her family, friends and neighbours.

Lessons learned from Phyllis include enjoyment of each day, being kind to all, having a good sense of humour, and being amazed by nature’s beauty like watching crocus heads popping through the snow.

As per Phyllis’ wishes, there will be no funeral and spring interment of ashes will take place.

In lieu of flowers, you may wish to donate to a charity of choice in Phyllis’ memory.
