Dorothy Rothwell, a remarkable woman known for her quick wit, creativity, and love for her family, passed away on March 7, 2024, at the age of 96. She was born on March 1, 1928, in Beed, Manitoba, to Kathleen Midwinter and Samuel Mellors.
Dorothy’s life was a testament to her adventurous spirit and passion for learning. In her retirement, she traveled across the country with Charlie, exploring new places and creating lifelong memories. Dorothy’s thirst for knowledge was insatiable, and she was an avid reader who constantly sought to broaden her horizons.
One of Dorothy’s greatest talents was her artistic ability. She expressed her creativity through pottery, sewing, and various forms of art. Her artistic skills were admired by all who saw her beautiful creations. Dorothy generously shared her passion with her grandchildren, patiently teaching them the joy of artistic expression.
In addition to her artistic pursuits, Dorothy had a green thumb and found solace in her bountiful garden. She could often be found shelling peas or pulling carrots, engaging in heartfelt conversations with loved ones on the deck. Gardening was a source of joy and tranquility for Dorothy, and her garden flourished under her loving care.
Dorothy now joins her beloved Charlie and son-in-law Tim in eternal rest. She is survived by her daughters Kathy and Ruth, her son-in-law Lyle, and her grandchildren Ruth, Erin, Jarrod, and Amy. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Lily, Cole, Emily, and Veda.
Dorothy’s legacy of intelligence, creativity, and love will forever be cherished by her family and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A small memorial to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held on a later date.
