Lena Marie Shields, loving wife of the late Bruce Shields, passed away suddenly at the South East Integrated Care Centre on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the age of 80 years.

Lena was predeceased by her husband, Bruce Shields, along with two brothers and two sisters: Pete, Andy, Germaine and Eva.

She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends: Peter Sinotte of Rocanville, Jason and Tonya; Joan (Ron) Hilgers of Rocanville, Bruce (Pamela) Ossman, Dylan, Jordan and Dalton, William Mitchel, Tanner, Taylor and Cooper; Shirley (Frank) Lay of Toronto, Jeffrey, Bradley and Eric; Linda (Jerome) Hilgers of Rocanville, Laura (Tom Hyde) Ronald and Tegan, Tanya (Bryce) Chevshenko, Corbin and Sloan, Justin (Lindsay) Drinnan. She has also left behind sisters-in-law Alice Rancourt and Merle Rancourt.

Lena was born in Timmins, Ont. on August 26, 1933 to Philogene and Julie Rancourt, the youngest of five children.

In the 1950s, they moved to Toronto where she spent the next phase of her life working and raising her family.

She moved to Grenfell, Sask. with her husband Bruce in the early 1980s where she worked for many years as a restaurant manager, making many friends along the way.

She was a proud member of the Grenfell Legion and loved to spend her time bowling, playing bingo and going for coffee with her good friends and family. She moved to Rocanville, Sask. in 2011 where three of her children presently reside. She loved her family dearly and nothing made her happier than when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were with her. She was a special person, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed; however, she will live on in our memories.

Interment will be held in the summer when she will be laid to rest beside her husband Bruce in Grenfell.
