Anthony Ernest Dobko, 78, of Moosomin, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully on March 11, 2014 with his family by his side.

Tony was born on January 20, 1936 to Steve and Mary Dobko (nee Woloshyn), at the family farm in Jedburgh. He and his sister Isabelle were raised in Jedburgh, where they attended school and helped out on the farm.

After graduation, Tony attended Teacher’s College in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Later he upgraded his education, obtaining his teaching degree in 1969. Throughout his career Tony taught at many schools but spent most of his time in Moosomin. He retired in 1989 after 34 years of teaching.

On November 10, 1960, Tony married the love of his life, Carolyn Stewart. They began their life together in Chamberlain, moved to Lang, Regina, and eventually settled in Moosomin. Here they raised their three children, and have resided for the last 45 years.
Tony was an active member of the community. He loved sports, and participated as a player, coach, and official in golf, curling, bowling, softball, football, and many others.

He served on the Knights of Columbus for many years, and volunteered his time to many worthwhile local causes. He played a large role in establishing the current bowling alley, which he was very proud of.

In 1997, Tony suffered a stroke. No longer able to do the same things, Tony found meaning and purpose in new ways. He enjoyed his days at the Adult Day Care program, entertaining with "Bea and her Boys" men’s choir, and assisting others less able. He was truly an inspiration to those who met him.

Tony was predeceased by his parents, Steve and Mary, his father-in-law, George Stewart, mother-in-law, Marion Brown, stepfather-in-law, Charles Brown, and brother-in-law, Martin McDonell.

He leaves to mourn his wife Carol, three children, Brad (Lorri) Dobko, Brenda (Mike) Steciuk, and Sandy (Ron) Theriault, four grandchildren, Denae Dobko, Haley Steciuk, Aleena and Anthony Theriault, sister Isabelle (Mike) Lys, sisters-in-law Donalda McDonell, Bev (Stan) Aberhart, close friends Morris and Brenda Schuster, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Tony was a friend to all, and liked by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to all the staff at the Moosomin Long Term Care Centre for their kindness and compassion shown to Tony and the family during Tony’s stay.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to MOTOH (Dial-a-van) or the Moosomin and District Healthcare Foundation, in memory of Tony.
