Marjorie Alice (Earl) Shirley was born on December 11, 1915 in Regina and passed away on March 21, 2014 in Moosomin, Saskatchewan, at the age of 98.

Marjorie had a happy childhood on the family farm at Osage, Saskatchewan and attended Neal School and Osage High School. She played organ at church and provided piano accompaniment for local fiddlers at dances in the Osage district. After completing high school, she attended Normal School (Teacher’s College) in Regina (1935-36) and was a teacher at Neal School (Osage); Swift Creek (Carlyle); and Constance School (Govan).

Marjorie married Clifford Shirley, August 11, 1944 in Victoria, B.C. The couple began their married life in Ladner, B.C. where Clifford was an instructor in the RCAF at Boundary Bay. They returned to Saskatchewan in 1945 where Clifford was school principal at Redvers. Over the years, Marjorie made a number of teacherages home for her family in Ogema, Maryfield, Simpson, Davidson, Alameda, and Arcola. Marjorie and Clifford also farmed in the Arcola-Carlyle area for many years and had a cabin in the village at Kenosee Lake.

They retired to Weyburn in 1982 and Marjorie had fond memories of her years there, especially the friendship of her coffee group on Maple Drive.

Marjorie moved to Prairieview Lodge in Rocanville in 2008 to be closer to family and she enjoyed the friendship of other residents and taking part in the activities (especially music) held there.
