It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mom and grandma, Isabella Agnes Ireland, Clarke, Kelly (Bella) on March 2, 2014 at the Saskatchewan Southeast Integrated Care Centre in Moosomin, at the age of 88 years.
Bella was born in 1926 to Walter and Agnes Ireland at her parents’ home in the valley near Millwood, Manitoba, in the Binscarth district. She was eighth born into a family of 12-six boys and six girls.
Bella loved the farm life and, together with her husband, Maurice Kelly, they made their farm home at the top of the beautiful Qu’Appelle Valley.
She loved nature, her garden, her family. Nothing made her happier than having family and friends pop in for a visit and, of course, go home with full tummies. She also loved to cook and bake. She used to say, "I come from a big family and I wish they all lived closer. It is not good being far apart."
Bella knit many pairs of socks, mittens and sweaters. She crocheted pretty doilies and afghans, sewed patch work quilt tops and made a craft from almost every new craft magazine that came out.
She also loved music, as did Maurice. She and Maurice played all over Saskatchewan and Manitoba for old time dances, she on piano and Maurice on the violin. They made beautiful music together. In later years, they retired from playing at the dances and entertained in the nursing homes and lodges.
Bella is survived by her daughter, Mildred Muir and son, Dennis (Willa) Clarke; grandchildren Tim (Jackie) Muir, Chris (Lynn) Muir, Penny (Craig) Olafson, Denise (Nick) Hudym; great-grandchildren Tyler (Amy) Muir, Joe Muir, Cassie (Jon) Vosloo, Jessie Muir, Brody Olafson, Brandon (Allisa) Hudym, Aura Lee Hudym; and great-great-grandchildren Teagan and Jake Muir and Markus and Jax Hudym. She is also survived by her brother, John (Alice) Ireland; sisters Dorothy McLennan and Rosina Koshuba, sisters-in-law, Sheila (Jim) Gibb, Emily Hewitt, Delta Kelly and Dorothy Ireland, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bella was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Agnes Ireland, first husband, Clifford Clarke and husband Maurice Kelly; son-in-law Ron Muir; grandson William Clarke; brothers Bill, Lionel, Cedric, Walter and Tommy Ireland; sisters Lily Cook, Florence Smyth and Daisy Thickett; brothers-in-law Don McLennan, Peter Koshuba, Walter Thickett, Eddy Cook, Alex Smyth, Hugh Kelly, Terence Kelly, Norris Ashe, John Hewitt and Bill Brydon; sisters- in-law Kathleen Ashe, Margaret Kingdon, Mable Kelly, Lil Ireland, Mildred Ireland and Rosalie Ireland.
