On Jan. 12, Frankie passed away peacefully at age 91 at Newport Harbour.

Thank-you to the caring staff there who tried to make her last years comfortable as she lost her vibrant personality to Alzheimers.

Frances Minty (nee Wilson) grew up in Bear Creek near Tantallon.

After receiving her teaching certification, Frances, affectionately known as Frankie, taught in northern B.C. Returning to Saskatchewan, Frances married Roy Minty of Rocanville on Dec. 22, 1945. Frances taught around the Rocanville area for 10 years while Roy and she raised their family on their farm. In 1961 the family moved to Calgary where Frances taught at Queen Elizabeth Elementary School for the next decade. Frankie and Roy decided to venture into a building project on the Shuswap and spent the next 16 years in Anglemont, B.C. as key figures in developing the community there. Frances taught in nearby Celista for several years.

Frances and Roy enjoyed many years of travelling as snowbirds to Arizona, Texas, and California in the winter. In their later years Frances and Roy moved to Kelowna. Frankie's background in education and interest in others kept her busy creating community performances and activities at Sunrise Village.

Frances moved with Roy back to Calgary for long-term care.

Frances leaves her husband, Roy, sons Connell (Fran) and Deveron (Heather), grandchildren Evan, Breanna, Megan, Robin, and Kendra, and great grandchildren, Tyson and Georgina.
