It is with deep sadness that the family of Shirley Olafson announces her passing on Friday, July 18, 2014 at the age of 75 years.
Shirley was born on the Brown family farm to James and Ivy Brown (nee Luthala). She worked in and around Tantallon and Rocanville areas and briefly in Port Alberni, B.C. until she began her career of 22 years with Canada Post in Rocanville.

Shirley’s passions were crocheting, crafts, gardening and her grandkids and she valued her many friendships.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years, Lennard Olafson; her children, Lori Olafson, Karen Chartier (Cam), Scott Olafson, Corrie Olafson and Cathy DeCorby (Jean); her grandchildren Crystal Machniak (Chris), Kelly Byers, Rachelle Chartier, Justin Chartier, Cohen Olafson, Adlee Olafson, Dakoda Godwin, Ivy DeCorby, Chantelle DeCorby, Guylaine DeCorby, Jocelyn DeCorby and Jean Luke DeCorby; great-grandchildren Dakota Machniak, Brooklyn Machniak, and Addison Machniak; her siblings Elaine Dumville (Trevor), Larry Brown (Judy); her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law George Olafson (Judy), Oliver Olafson (Gladys), Kathleen Lucas (Stan), Tom Olafson (Grace), Barry Godwin and Colleen Knuttila (Stan); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents James and Ivy Brown, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Ingersol and Alice Olafson; and sisters-in-law Beverly Olafson (George) and Caroline Godwin (Barry).

A funeral service was held at G.R. Carscadden Funeral Chapel in Moosomin, Saskatchewan on Wednesday, July 23, 2014.

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Moosomin and District Healthcare Foundation Long Term Care, The Canadian Diabetes Association or the Alzheimers Society, in memory of Shirley.
