"Life’s work well done."

Lloyd Anderson of Yorkton, Sask. passed away peacefully on October 6, 2014 at the age of 91. His sons Colin and Graham, and daughters-in-law Wendy and Lenore were at his side.

Lloyd was born July 5, 1923 on a farm at Beaverdale, Saskatchewan, where he later attended Beaver School and farmed with his parents.

With his first wife Shirley Haacke, he had three sons, David, Colin, and Graham. They continued to farm until Lloyd joined the United Grain Growers as elevator manager. Lloyd was first located in Wynyard, and later in Jedburgh and Tantallon.

Lloyd moved to Rocanville in 1970, where he met and married Laurene Park in 1973, the beginning of over 40 years of life with his best friend. Lloyd retired from the elevator in 1986 and they continued to live on the farm at Rocanville. He moved to Medicine Hat in 2002, returning to Rocanville in 2008.

In 2013, Lloyd moved to Yorkton to be closer to many of his family and friends; however, he always missed his friends in Rocanville.

Lloyd enjoyed all sports and played hockey and baseball as a young man, was an avid curler and curling fan, and he loved watching the Riders. He also enjoyed a round of golf from time to time. He loved music, dancing, and singing, and could often be heard humming a tune. Lloyd sang in the choir and was treasurer in the United Church.

Lloyd was predeceased by his wife Laurene, his son David, his parents Henry and Edith, his brother Leslie, his sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Fred Preston, and his grandson Chad Parsons.

He is survived by his sons Colin (Wendy) Anderson of Calgary, Alta., and Graham (Lenore) Anderson of Katepwa, Sask.; his brother Murray (Inez) Anderson of Milestone, Sask.; and by Laurene’s sons Trevor (Dianne) Park, of Coquitlam, B.C. and Jack (Anita) Park of Saskatoon, Sask.; her daughters Norlene (Harvey) Parsons of Medicine Hat, Alta., and Julie (Rick) Machnaik of Regina, Sask.; nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and cousins.

A memorial service for the celebration of Lloyd’s life was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 19 at the United Church, Rocanville, Sask. Interment followed at Webster Cemetery.
