Shirley Junk (Virtue) died peacefully at home on May 21, 2015 at the age of 80.

Shirley is lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her loving husband Don; her daughters Elaine, Debbie (Gord), Darlene (Guy), Maureen (Doug) and Laurel (Kyle) ;as well as her 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; her brothers Al (Elaine) and Bill (Lesley); her sisters-in-law Linda (Rueben), Barbara ,and Joanne (Dennis); and her many friends.

She was predeceased by her parents Ruth and Del Virtue and an infant sister Elaine.

She graduated from high school in Moosomin and the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon with a B.Ed. She taught school in Redvers and Regina.

Shirley spent most summers at the family cottage at Moosomin Regional Park.

Shirley volunteered in a number of organizations over the years. She was very active in La Leche League during the ‘70s and ‘80s, eventually becoming the executive director/president of La Leche League Canada. She was passionate about the importance of family. She emphasized, taught and supported good parenting and particularly the importance of the first years of a child’s life.

She was a mother, spouse, dancer, leader and friend. Shirley will be remembered for her caring ways and positive nature! Her hospitality blessed many people through the years.

A memorial service to celebrate Shirley’s life was held at Southminster-Steinhauer United Church in Edmonton on Saturday, May 30 at 2 p.m.
