Beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at the Southeast Integrated Care Centre in Moosomin, Sask., on Thursday morning June 4, 2015 at the age of 89 years old.

She will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her son Cameron Kennedy and granddaughter Mackenzie Kennedy, both of Calgary, Alta., with love and lasting memories.

Fran was born at home in Souris, Man., on November 17, 1925, the second of five children born to Wilfred and Zelie Perry. She moved with the family at the age of seven from Souris, Man., to Napinka, Man., where she completed her education and then worked for several years as a telephone operator in many of the surrounding communities, including Napinka, Melita and Souris.

She met Emslie Kennedy while in school in Napinka, and despite her stories of his constant tormenting, they married in 1949. Early in their marriage Emslie worked for BA Oil and Beaver Lumber, and as result they moved a lot. Fran had many different jobs including Manitoba Government Telephones, Brandon Mental Hospital and the Royal Bank, in many different communities throughout Manitoba and Saskatchewan, including Melita, Brandon, Virden, Waskada, Dauphin, Gilbert Plains, Elm Creek, and Maryfield. After finally settling in Moosomin, Sask. in 1971 she worked at Smith’s Mens Wear for several years and lastly as a bartender at the Moosomin Legion.

She enjoyed bowling, bingo, Legion crib and darts, and was a long-time member of the Royal Purple, Legion auxiliary and hospital auxiliary. Volunteering was a huge part of Fran’s life, especially with the long-term care residents and activities in Moosomin, but probably her most enjoyable time of all was spent helping the Kindergarten teacher and classes over the years, as the kids loved her and she loved them.

Fran also leaves behind to mourn two brothers Charlie Perry of Comox, B.C. and Ken Perry of Portage La Prairie; and one sister-in-law Sue Perry of Chicago, Ill.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Wilfred and Zelie Perry; her husband Emslie Kennedy; her brother Stan Perry; her sister Kay Perry; and sisters-in-law Gerry Perry and Pat Perry.

Fran touched many lives during her lifetime and will be sorely missed. A special thanks goes out to all her friends and acquaintances in her last place of residence, Moosomin, Sask., for all their support, kindness and care.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Moosomin Legion or to a charity of choice in memory of Fran.

Rest in peace, Mom.
