Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend Emil George Prybylski, of Moosomin, Saskatchewan, passed away at the Southeast Integrated Care Centre, Moosomin, on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the age of 77 years.

Emil had a long battle against chronic leukemia that was further compounded by chronic shingles and more recently, diabetes. There were many ups and downs over the years, and he struggled with the heavy emotional toll his illnesses and chronic pain had on him. However, he tried to never let his illnesses or ailments become an excuse for not getting something done and hated making any allowances for the weakness that occurred because of the cancer.

Emil was born on the farm in Greenwater on November 18, 1938, the eldest son to the late George and Louise (Renneberg) Prybylski. He left Greenwater as a teenager to cut trees up north and eventually made his way down to the Fleming area to farm. He met Shirley Peters in March of 1973 and by November 10 of that same year they were married and settled a couple miles west of Fleming. They moved off the farm eventually due to Emil’s illnesses, but he was always a farmer at heart and still cut hay for a few loyal customers.

Emil didn’t have a lot of hobbies. He loved being a farmer and he loved being on the farm. He always said that as soon as he left the end of the lane he would feel anxious until he was back home again, standing on the ground that he cared for. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and reading —he read a lot of westerns over the years. Emil and Shirley enjoyed camping with their close friends and family at Lake of the Prairies where the Pickerel, Pike and Perch were plentiful.

Emil will be sorely missed by all those that knew and loved him but especially by his devoted wife of 42 years, Shirley, his two daughters, Renette Garbutt (Geoff Garbutt) and Trina Martel (Trevor Martel), his three grandchildren, Erica Prybylski-Vilbrunt, Dalton Martel and Mark Garbutt, and a great-grandchild, Wyatt Peters as well as brothers Elwood, Glen and sister Judy. He was predeceased by both of his parents, George and Louise Prybylski, and brothers Alvin and Lloyd.

A burial ceremony took place March 26 at Fleming Cemetery at 2 p.m. with lunch afterwards at the Fleming Hall. Thank you to all who were there to share their memories with us.

A special thank you to all Emil’s doctors, nurses and caregivers at the Southeast Integrated Care Center in Moosomin. As a family we appreciate all the loving care he received over the years.
