Here is a little bit of history about our mom, grandma, aunt, and friend.

Doreen was born on April 3, 1927 to James Haye Lockhart and Martha Jane (Jenny) Dodd.

After completing Grade 12 at Rocanville School, Doreen moved to Winnipeg from the Lockhart farm to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Eva and Douglas Ferguson. While in Winnipeg, she was employed with Eaton’s Co., working in the office.

Doreen was a great athlete at playing ball, golf, curling, and hockey, then attending and watching these sports in the area and on TV until her passing. Mom along with her team-mates, the Winnipeg Canadianettes, won the 1950 Lady Bessborough Trophy in the Ladies’ Dominion Hockey Championship of Canada. From reading the paper articles, she was one heck of a contributor to her team.

Mom moved back to Rocanville and married Wilford (Bud) Reavie on March 12, 1952.

Mom’s life would change from working in an office setting to becoming a farmer’s wife and a domestic engineer (stay at home mom). Mom could do anything that was presented to her and worked hard to help provide for a family. She was a patient and kind mom and to many in the community, a great friend and neighbor.

Many parts of the Rocanville history will be buried with mom; as she was very knowledgeable of the area and the people that settled there.

Oh yes, the family: Doreen was the last of the Lockhart children to pass-on. She was pre-deceased by her parents and her siblings: Eva, Bea, and Mac, Vera, and Donna. As my cousin has said ”bridge (the card game) just got a little more competitive in heaven.” Doreen’s husband, Bud, passed away July 1, 1996. She remained on the Reavie homestead farm until her passing.

Until we meet again, mom leaves behind three children and their families to cherish many memories: son James and Cheryl (Kulovany-Williamson) and their children: Lana, Aynsley, Trenton, Lori, and their spouses and children, son Rod, and daughter Melinda and Don Lavoie and their children: Sarah, Gabrielle, Jacques, and Aimee. Doreen has one surviving sister-in-law Flossie Reavie; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

We will all miss you like crazy. Love you deeply mom!
