Bert, late of Regina, SK, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the age of 92 years.

He was predeceased by his wife Ruth (Fisk); parents, Robert “Bob” and Edith (McVicar); sisters, Beatrice (Albert) Longhurst and Genevieve Porter (John) ; and brother Roy.

Born and raised in the Kelso area, Bert started his 41-year career with the CN Rail, working in Langbank, Kipling, Moose Jaw and Regina. He retired as a Roadmaster out of Regina in 1986.

During the sixties, he called square dances throughout Saskatchewan. Bert and Ruth enjoyed traveling and camping, spending a lot of time at Kenosee Lake. After retirement, he spent many hours in his woodworking shop, making everything from picture frames to patio furniture. He enjoyed the game of golf, and over the past few years had become an avid Blue Jays fan.

For the past few years, he has shared his life with our dear friend Frieda, traveling, enjoying the dances and many card games at the Seniors Centre in Regina.

Bert loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and all are grateful we have had the opportunity to share in a life that demonstrated such strength, tenderness and depth in what he felt and believed.

Bert is survived by his dear friend Frieda Paulowicz; son, Timothy (Judy) of Tisdale and Allan (Darlene) of Saskatoon; daughter Linda (George) Broda of Crooked Lake; six grandchildren, Timothy, Andrew, Matthew (Dawn), Jennifer, Candace (Shane) Hrycan, and Carrie; four great-grandchildren, Cadence, Aurora, Ella, and Jackson.

Visitation for family and friends was held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Monday, October 23, 2017. Graveside service took place at the Kelso Cemetery on Friday, October 27, 2017 followed by a reception at the Langbank Recreation Centre.

The family would like to thank the Palliative Care team and the William Booth staff for their care and compassion during this difficult time. Friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to the Regina Senior Citizen’s Centre, 2134 Winnipeg Street, Regina, SK S4P 3X6 or William Booth Special Care Home, 50 Angus Road, Regina.
