Andre Joseph Lachapelle blessed this earth on January 6, 1929. He left to see Jesus on May 6, 2013.

Andre was the eldest son of Antonio and Louise Lachapelle. He came into this world on a farm near Forget, Saskatchewan. Being born on a farm stayed true to his heart. Andre's parents moved to Manitoba when he was around six. They loaded a wagon, hitched the team of horses and off to Manitoba they went. Andre left school at an early age to help with the family farm.

Andre met his wife Noella at a church function and then was married on Oct. 4, 1952. They continued to farm north of St. Claude, Manitoba. In 1953 children started to bless their home-Lucie, Denis and Gilbert. With the family growing, the decision to buy a farm came about and they purchased a three quarter section of land north of Kirkella, Manitoba. In 1959 they moved to the family farm and settled in. Coming from a French community to an English community was an adjustment but proved to be no problem. Andre enjoyed growing crops, raising cattle, pigs, chickens and of course children as Louise, Lorraine, Raymond and Paul came along.

Andre was active in UGG and The Elkhorn Creamery board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and curling. He also enjoyed watching hockey and wrestling, and boxing on TV.

In 1995 Andre sold the farm to his son, and moved to Virden in a house on Sixth Street. It was an adjustment but he kept busy doing yard work, gardening, flowers, puzzle making, and coffee.
In 2011 they sold the house to a grandson and moved to Bolton Place. This move was a huge adjustment, as he lost a son and moved all at the same time.

Andre will be missed by all.
Andre leaves to morn his wife of 60 years Noella; children Lucie (Robert), Denis (Tricia), Gilbert, Louise (Scott), Lorraine (Glen), daughter-in-law Gail, Paul (Cheryle); 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Germaine and Eva and sister-in-law Madleine.

Andre was predeceased by his parents Antonio and Louise Lachapelle; grandson Michael Stock; brothers-in-laws Jacques Syrenne and Jules Durreault; brother Joe and son Raymond.
The funeral mass was held from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Virden at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013 with Father Geoffrey Angeles officiating. Andre is laid to rest in the Virden Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association and or Canadian Cancer Society in his memory.

Weep not for me,
I'm free from pain
My earthly sufferings are o'er:
I hope to meet you all again
On a peaceful, happy shore.
