Pearl Matheson passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at the Southeast Integrated Care Centre on Friday, February 23, 2018 in her 107th year.

Pearl was the second child of nine born to Matthew and Cora Yates.

She was born in Owen Sound, Ontario on March 12, 1911. The family moved to the Storthoaks area when she was about two years old. Pearl received her schooling and continued to help out on the family farm until 1937 when she married Lyall Matheson. They farmed in the Storthoaks area while being blessed with four children: Shirley, Ken, Lois and Evelyn. In 1946 they moved to the farm in the Stanley District at Moosomin where Pearl continued to raise her children and work as a farm wife.

In 1964, Pearl and Lyall retired to Moosomin where Pearl continued to enjoy her garden and flowers. At the age of 99, Pearl made the decision to sell her house and move to Knotty Pine. Pearl gradually ended up living at the Nursing Home in Moosomin.

Pearl spent her life enjoying the outdoors. She loved her life as a farmer’s wife and found peace and tranquility in her gardening. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. Pearl and her sister, Marguerite, were always working on some project.

Pearl also loved to bowl, play bingo and volunteer for the church.

She was heavily involved in the Agricultural Society and the Hospital Auxiliary. She holds Honorary Life Memberships to both organizations.

Pearl was predeceased by her husband Lyall (1993), daughter Lois (1981), daughter Evelyn (1991), son Ken (2007), son-in-law Dave Dumont (2014), and grandsons Kelly and Kevin Dumont (2013, 1987).

Pearl is lovingly remembered by daughter Shirley (Don) Neuls, daughter in law Betty Anne Marsellus, son-in-law Homer (Shirley) Ranson, daughter in law Lynn McMahon, 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 20 great- great-grandchildren, sister Grace Toms, brother Allan (Marge) Yates, and numerous nieces and nephews.
