Erna was born on July 25, 1935 in Solodesch, Poland. She was the youngest child to Michael and Emilie Beier. In 1952 Erna and her parents immigrated to Canada and eventually set down roots in the Wapella area, where other family had previously settled. Erna worked at the Moosomin Hotel as a chamber maid until she was married.

Erna married Reinhardt (Ron) Restau on December 26, 1959. They began their married life on a farm in the Wapella district and raised six rambunctious boys. They later moved to town in 1966.

After the children moved away from home, she worked as an Aid for Home Care for many years.

December 17, 2003 was a particularly special day for Erna. On that day, she took part in her Canadian Citizenship Ceremony at the RCMP barracks in Regina.

Erna looked forward to and enjoyed taking part in card games, bingo and was involved in lots of laughter and friendship at the Happy Go Lucky Club in which she was a long-time member.

All who knew Erna will remember her always smiling, never complaining and general contentment with all that life provided. Her infectious, boisterous laughter is a memory that all who knew her will hold dear. Time spent getting together with family for any occasion such as going out for supper, birthdays, Christmas, at the cabin, going to the lake fishing or with her many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was precious to her.

Erna also enjoyed and was well versed in many forms of televised sports, be it curling, soccer or football. After a Rider game, (with good or bad results), she would quite knowledgeably discuss the plays that took place on the field (she would have had something to say about last week’s game!).

Erna was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Emilie Beier, her husband, Ron, sons, Henry and Rudy, granddaughter, Brianna, sisters, Johanna, Helene and Emma, brother Waldemar and brothers-in-law.

Erna leaves to mourn, sons, Otto (Florie), Willie (Lesa), Herb (Carol), Eric and daughter-in-law, Sheri, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister Natalie and many nieces and nephews.

The family of Erna would like to thank all those who sent cards, flowers, gifts of food, made memorial tributes to the Moosomin and District Health Care Foundation, offered condolences and shared memories of Erna. Your many acts of kindness will always be treasured.
