It is with aching hearts that James (Donna), Braden, Sarah Richter, Laurel, Carter, and Mason Lamb announce the passing of their Mom and Oma Frieda Richter.

After a repeated, long courageous battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully in the SE Integrated Care Center in Moosomin Sunday November 25, 2018 with her family by her side.

Frieda was born in North Battleford, Sask. January 11, 1945, while her family was homesteading at Meading Lake, Sask. She was the youngest of four children born to Wanda and Rudolf Steinke. She grew up at the family farm near Wapella. In 1964 when she married the late Avery (Bill) Richter, she moved to the farm north of Welwyn, Sask. where she lived until her passing.

Over the years she was a homemaker, active in her church (organist and Sunday school teacher) involved with skating clubs, C.R.O.W, Belles and Beaus and widely known in the country over the last 35 years as the “Avon Lady.” If she would have made it another month she would have acquired the prestige honour of presidents club which she earned for the last 34 years.

She was a very proud OMA to four lucky grandchildren (Braden and Sarah Richter and Carter and Mason Lamb) and was blessed with one great granddaughter Abby. She spoiled the kids every chance she got and loved spending time with them.

She loved the farm life and will be remembered for her cooking, her willingness to help others and always had the time to listen and give a hand when needed.

She was predeceased by her parents Wanda (1983), Rudolf (1998) Steinke, husband Bill Richter (2007), grandson Chase Lamb (2005), son JR Richter (2016), nephew Larry Weslowski (2017), brother-in-law Paul Weslowski and sister-in-law Mary Steinke.

Left to mourn her memory are her son James (Donna), Braden and Sarah Richter, daughter Laurel, Carter and Mason Lamb, great-granddaughter Abby, her Brother Ed Steinke, Otto and Marg Steinke, sister Martha Weslowski and many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.

“Grief is the last act of love we have to give to those we loved. Where there is deep grief, there is great love.”
