It is with great sorrow that the family of Andrew Gulka announces his sudden and unexpected passing on February 12, 2019.

Andrew, or Andy as he was known to family and his near countless friends, is the youngest son of William Gulka and Julia Gulka (Pankevich). He was born September 15, 1966 in Porcupine Plain Saskatchewan, where he grew up and attended both public school and high school where he excelled in sports and mathematics.

In September, 1984, following high school, Andy entered the College of Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. Andrew graduated as an engineer in 1990 and shortly thereafter accepted a position as an electrical engineer with Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan at the Rocanville, Saskatchewan potash mine. Andy remained a dedicated employee of Potash Corp/ Nutrien for the rest of his life, steadily being entrusted with greater responsibility as the years went by. At the time of his passing, he was the Superintendent of Technical Services at the Rocanville/Scissors Creek mines.

While working at the Rocanville mine, Andy worked with Sam Brown and met his daughter, Kim. The relationship flourished and Andy and Kim were married on May 16, 1998. They were blessed with three children, Madisyn (18), Alex (14) and Kale (11). Andy greatly loved his children and was incredibly proud of each of them.

Andy loved life. In no particular order, he loved motorcycles, camping, the outdoors, the Roughriders, boating, skidooing, computer stuff, building things, scotch and cooking. But most of all, he loved his family. Some of his most precious times were family vacations, Madisyn’s high school graduation, watching Alex display her musical talents with her band and going to Rider games and quadding with Kale.

Andy was predeceased by his mother, Julia Gulka (Pankevich) in 2006, his father, William Gulka in 2007 and his much loved older brother, Daniel, in 2008.

Andy is survived by his loving wife, Kim and their children, Madisyn, Alex and Kale. Also surviving him are his sisters Irene and Barbara (James) and their children, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service was held on Monday, February 18, 2019 at 2 pm at Rocanville Nutrien Community Hall.

In lieu of flowers, Kim would appreciate donations being made to the local charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Andy.
