It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ruth Martineau at Saskatoon, Sask. On March 28, 2019.

Ruth was born on October 26, 1926 to Eleanor and Wilford Graham of Stanley District, Moosomin, Sask.

After completing her schooling, she attended Normal School in Moose Jaw and Saskatoon and received her Teaching Certificate. In the years to follow she taught at Red Jacket, Martin and Stanley District schools.

Ruth married Ed Martineau on April 29, 1949. They farmed in Stanley District for 22 years before moving to Moosomin. She worked at Mitchell’s Jewelry and Towne Clothier for several years after moving to town.

For many years, Ruth was involved in her church and community.

She was a Charter member of the CWL and a faithful member for more than 50 years. She taught catechism, served on Parish Council and as PC Chair.

She belonged to the Hospital Auxiliary and the Legion Ladies and was happy to help organize and work at their events. She was on on the Moosomin School Board and was MSB Chair as well.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Eleanor and Wilford, Ed her husband of almost 54 years and great-grandson Lane, sister Marguerite, sisters-in-law Lorraine and Muriel, brothers-in-law Cecil, Fred, Adolf and Clarence.

Ruth leaves to mourn her son Brian (Irene) grandchildren Brooke and Darren great-grandson Dylan; Debbie (Dwight) grandchildren Corey (Tammy), Marieta, great-granddaughter Ella, Kyle (Becky) great-grandchildren Leila and Deacon; Heather (Hugh) grandchildren Angela, Thomas (Liz) great-grandchildren William and Sophia, Breanne and Brayden (Jordan); and Michelle, grandchildren Samantha, Michel and Pamela. She is also survived by her brother Jack, sister Edna and sister-in-law Myrtle and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ruth loved to read and in later years missed being able to do so as her eyesight deteriorated. But what she loved most was spending time with family and friends.

Due to failing health and the loss of her sight, Ruth moved to Saskatoon where she lived at Arbour Villa Private Care Home for 15 months. After a fall and several weeks in hospital she moved to Sunnyside Adventist Care Home where she resided until her passing.

Ruth really was ‘one of a kind’, she never met a stranger and she lived her life with a joyful heart. We’ll miss you Mom (Nanny).
