Don passed away suddenly at home on May 29, 2019. He was born at home in Rocanville, Sask. on February 19, 1935.
Don trained initially as a carpenter, and later attained his Journeyman status as an electrician. He worked at K-1 Potash mine in Esterhazy. In 1975 Don and Shirley established Goodman’s Electric, and they ran a successful business for over 30 years.
Don was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge. He served on the Rocanville town council for three terms. He also served on the Housing Authority Board for several years.
Don had many hobbies including reading, camping, hunting, carpentry, fishing and gardening. He loved spending time with family and friends, visiting, playing cards and laughing.
Don experienced multiple medical problems over the past few years, but continued to stay positive and enjoy his family, friends and hobbies.
Don was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Gertrude, and by his sister and brother-in-law, Moira and Ray Larter.
Don is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley and his children Daphne Eifler (Floyd), Lyle Goodman (Mona), Norma Fouillard (Angelo) and Craig Goodman (Deborah).
He also leaves to mourn grandchildren—Nathan (Elaina), Brandon (Charlene), Calla (Adam), Ryan (Kerstin), Matthew, Janessa (Nolan), Daniel, and great-grandchildren—Adakai, Hudson, and Paxton, who brought him great joy. He will also be missed by his brothers and sisters in law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Don’s life was held on June 5, 2019 at St. Paul’s United Church in Rocanville. Interment was at Webster’s Cemetery.
