On May 11, 1929, Frances Margaret was the second child born to Laura and Andrew McEachern near the family farm on the Pipestone Valley. It was on the family farm that Frances grew to love animals at a young age. She loved riding horseback with her horse named Jack, Scottish dancing, attending mass and school at St. Andrews and visiting the neighbors. In 1947, Frances began training to become a registered nurse at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina, SK. receiving the medal of general proficiency at her graduation in 1950.

On April 7, 1956, Frances married the love of her life, Tom Sokalski. Soon after being wed their family began to grow. Margaret, Duane, Clare, Bernadette, Laura and Thomas all came into their life. During their 61 years of marriage there was no shortage of love, laughter and family memories made. Frances took time away from nursing to raise their children. She kept busy attending kids sporting events, driving to rinks all across the province for hockey games and figure skating competitions and travelling with their family.

Frances went back to school to upgrade her nursing when she was 58 and retired from Moosomin Hospital in 1996. Frances was a dedicated community member who was active with the CWL, school board, home care, and the Seniors Club. In their later years, Frances and Tom enjoyed spending winters in Palm Desert, playing cards, doing puzzles, summers at the family cabin and spending time with family and friends. Frances was predeceased by her husband Tom, son Clare, parents Laura and Andrew, and brother Hugh. Frances is survived by her children: Maggie, Duane (Doreen), Bernadette, Laura (Rene) and Thomas (Teresa); grandchildren: Tara, Randy, Lyndsay (Scott), Brenden, Dylan, Kayl, Kyle, Jessica, Jordyn, Jasmine and Cole; great grandchildren; Sydney, Cayden, Sierra, Sophia, Grayson, Asher, Grace, and Claire; step-grandchildren: Heidi, Brittany, Andrea, Lauren and Richard.
