Catherine Margaret, age 86, of Gull Lake, Sask. passed away peacefully at Swift Current Meadows on February 12, 2020.

She was born in Gull Lake in 1933. She grew up on a farm near Carmichael, the daughter of Bill and Peggy Cooke, with her siblings Ralph, Edna (Jones-Keeler) and Bill.

Cathy told many stories about growing up in the “dirty thirties” and the many changes she experienced from no electricity or running water to computers. She attended a one room school where she completed her grade 12 prior to moving to Gull Lake and taking a job as one of the first telephone operators in the area.

Cathy met her husband, Murray Tremka there and together they had four children. Cathy pursued further education as an insurance broker beginning in the early 1980s being one of the few women in this field. Cathy earned many acknowledgements for her work and travelled to many communities.

In 1972 she married Dennis McEachen and moved to Carnduff with her two youngest sons. The family later lived in Weyburn and Swift Current prior to Cathy settling in Regina where she retired.

Throughout the years Cathy was an avid curler and gardener and enjoyed spending time with her friends. She was well known for her outgoing nature and infectious laughter. Cathy always looked to her spirituality for guidance and a highlight of her life was going to the Crystal Cathedral in California.

Cathy is survived by her children Michael McEachen (Marilyn) Alberta Beach, Alta; Peggy Friesen (Rick) Swift Current, Sask.; Fred McEachen (Jennifer), Laguna Niguel, California and Paul McEachen (Lauren), Saskatoon, Sask; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is survived by two sisters-in-laws Linda Cooke and Lynn Cooke.

She is predeceased by her parents and siblings, and husbands Murray Tremka and Dennis McEachen.
A celebration of life will be held on May 16, 2020 in Swift Current.
