Edward (Eddie) Houle passed away peacefully on April 17, 2020 at the age of 82. Eddie was born to Jean-Baptiste and Isabelle (Fiddler) Houle on March 30, 1938.

Eddie attended school in St. Lazare until the age of 14. After he left school he went to drive a semi-truck for Bicknell’s. From there he went on to drive a gravel truck for Selby’s, then a cement truck on the pipeline, then to Fouillard Furniture followed by the village of St. Lazare until retirement.

Eddie would meet Alma Fleury, who he would marry on May 19, 1967 and would raise two sons, Tony and Vinnie.

Eddie loved to hunt, fish, draw, paint and tinker with things. He would volunteer for anything to help the community. He enjoyed working at the rink, tying skates or just seeing the kids happy. He would help anyone who needed a hand and you would always find him joking around somewhere in town.

His greatest passion was spending time with his wife, sons and especially his grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his parents Jean-Baptiste and Isabelle, mother-in-law Lavina, siblings George (Lily), Ernest, Vincent, Marie (Paul), Alma (Robert), Rita (Walter), Rene (Alice), Maurice (Marie), Jacques, and Paulette (Steve). He is survived by his wife Alma, sons Tony (Carol), Vinnie (Lavonne), grandchildren Shyla, Logan, Dylan, Madison, Mackenzie, Peyton, Tyson, his sister-in-law Irene and numerous nieces and nephews.

He meant so much to all of us, his love we will never forget.

The funeral service was held on Friday, April 24, 2020 from the Braendle-Bruce Funeral Chapel, Russell, with Fr. Christopher Dubois officiating. Interment followed in the St. Lazare Cemetery. A memorial mass will be held at a later date when gathering restrictions are lifted.
