It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Betty May Barta on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at the age of 79.

Betty was born on the farm at Kennedy, Sask. on July 11, 1940. She married Jim Barta Sr. in November 1958. They lived in Kennedy until 1967, then lived in various places, finally settling in Moosomin.

Betty started her working career with SaskTel as an operator in Regina. Over the years she worked at a variety of jobs. Most recently she retired from Play Fair Day Care after 10 years. Betty loved and was loved by all her babies at day care.

Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed many hobbies including cooking, baking, gardening, and restoring her well known Victorian home.

Betty was predeceased by Jim, her husband of 59 years, in 2017. She was also predeceased by her brothers Gary and Barry.

She is survived by her sister Patsy Voakes (Gary), stepsisters Donna Connell (Peter) and Mae Tobie (Roy), stepbrother Clarence Clark (Donna), sister-in-law Valerie Connell, sister-in-law Mary Sanderson, and brother-in-law Richard Barta (Doris).

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Cindy Barta, Jim Barta Jr. (Iris), Tracey Raymond (Brian), and her grandchildren Matthew Jacobi, Amy Graham (Evan), and Samantha Preston.

A funeral service will be held at G.R. Carscadden Funeral Chapel, Moosomin, on Saturday, July 18 at 2:00 p.m. with Sheilagh Garrett officiating. The interment service for both Betty and Jim Sr. will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Seating at the funeral chapel is limited, please let family be seated first.
