It is with great sadness that the family of Beryl Ellen Cameron (Davis) of Wawota, Sask. announce that she passed away peacefully at Moosomin Hospital on July 29, 2013 at the age of 90 years.

Beryl was born on January 31, 1923 in the Arundal District to Roy and Elda Davis. She was the second eldest of nine children. She took her schooling in a country school in Arundal and later into Wawota. She was a hard working young woman who would work on the farm alongside her father. During the war years she and her sister Louilla would work on the farm during the summer and fall and then head off to Ottawa during the winter months to work. They continued this for several years. When she did return to Wawota she worked at the egg candling station.

On June 2, 1947 she married the love of her life, Arthur James Cameron of the Pickwell District. They had a family of three children, Larry, Josephine and Katherine. They farmed south of Wawota for several years and retired into Wawota in 1978. Arthur moved into Wawota Deer View Lodge in 2011 but Beryl continued to live on her own until her time of passing.

Over the years, Beryl was an active volunteer and member for many organizations which included the Legion, UCW, the Drop-In Centre, Wawota Museum, Rebecca’s, the Red Cross and 4-H. She loved making quilts, doilies and many other crafts which she would take to craft shows and flea markets. She never got rich from her crafts but she loved doing it. She also loved acting and writing poetry which she won many prizes for over the years. She loved baking and her grandchildren remember her deepfreeze always being full of goodies. She always got great joy from family gatherings, spending time with friends and family reminiscing about all the good times over the years. She loved the times that she could spend with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and they got as much joy from her as she from them.

During the last few years when Arthur was still at home you would find the two of them out for supper several times a week from Carlyle to Moosomin and anywhere in between. One of her great joys was playing cards and going for coffee and ice cream with her girlfriends. Her children and grandchildren fondly remember that she would have chosen a banana split over supper any time, she loved her ice cream!

Beryl is survived by her husband of 67 years, Arthur; her son Larry (Terri) Cameron of Rocky Mountain House, Alta.; her daughter Josephine (Jim) Easton of Wawota; daughter Katherine Cameron of Regina; grandchildren Tammy (Todd) Davies of Wawota, DeAnn (Iain) Watson of Calgary, Ryan (Allison) Easton of Regina, Tracey and Jodi Cameron of Calgary, Aysia and Kyra Yeo of Regina; great-grandchildren Hunter and Talisa Davies, Marlee and Julia Easton and Henry and Frederick Watson; her brother Elden (Shirley) Davis of Qualicum Beach, B.C.; her sisters Bernice (Alfred) Sweeting of Maryfield, Mazie (Lemuel) Evelyn of Kelowna, B.C., Linda (Roger Smith) Bock of Rocanville, her sister-in-law Marj Davis of Wawota and brother-in-law Ron Choquette of Regina; as well as many nephews, nieces and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents Roy and Elda Davis, her brothers Franklin, Clive and Walter, her sister Louilla and grandson Adam.

The funeral service was held in Wawota at the United Church on August 2, 2013 with Roy Bortolotto officiating. Interment was held at Fernley Cemetery.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes can be made to the Wawota United Church.

They say "When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure" and we are grateful to have such a precious treasure.
