Margaret Louise Dyke (Schoen) passed away quietly on the evening of Dec. 23, 2012.
Margaret was born May 5, 1932, the eldest daughter of Rudy and Molly Schoen, at the family home in Elkhorn, Man. After graduating from high school in Elkhorn, she attended Normal school, after which she taught primary school for a short period of time at Routledge, Man.

She fell in love with Arnold Richard Dyke who she met Nov. 11, 1950. They were married July 9, 1951, settling in Oakshella, Sask. They were blessed with six children: Catherine, Karen, Richard, Randall, Corinne and Christine.

In 1957, Margaret and Arnold purchased a grocery and dry goods store in Rocanville, then later other grocery and dry goods and hardware stores in surrounding communities. They resided in Rocanville until 1988 when they moved to Edmonton, Alta. where they spent the rest of their lives. Margaret was very involved in church activities both in Moosomin and Edmonton. She also sold Avon for many years after moving to Edmonton. She loved socializing, music, cats, dogs and flowers. Margaret and Arnold both loved playing cards and they spent many evenings doing so with family and friends. Music and dancing were a huge part of their lives. Margaret was extremely comforted by familiar hymns in her later years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her family: Cathy and Blaine Wareham, Clark (Darcy) Wareham; Karen Gibson, Vicky (Sean) Simpson, Andrew Gibson, Michael Gibson; Richard and Karen Dyke, Scott (Leslie) Dyke, Ashley, Keegan, and Morgan; Kent (Ruth) Dyke, Sydney and Natalie, Gary (Nicole) Dyke and Weston; Shane (Stephanie) Nyeste, Shanley and Skylar; Robyn Nyeste and Halen; Randall Dyke; Corinne Herrington; Christine Dyke; Brother Ron (Sheila) Schoen, and sisters Ruth (Murray) Drackett, and Bev (Jim) Day-Wood; Sisters-in-law Mary Dyke and Eleanor Rithaler plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband Arnold of 59 years in April 2010, and previous to that her parents, Rudy and Molly Schoen and an infant grandson, Terry Russell Dyke, in addition to numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.

The funeral service was held on Dec. 31, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moosomin. The burial was at the Oakshella Cemetery in the family plot, and it occurred later that afternoon.
