Suspect mistakes police car for taxi
August 12, 2020, 10:40 am
On August 9th, 2020, at approximately 5:00 am, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a report of an intoxicated male causing a disturbance at a business on Saskatchewan Avenue West.
Two officers responded; one in a fully marked police vehicle, the other in an unmarked police vehicle.
Upon arrival, the 19-year-old male immediately ran from the fully marked police vehicle.
The unmarked unit, however, was able to pull right up next to the male, who suddenly jumped into the back seat and told the officer "Take me to 17th street Bro", before realizing he was not in the back seat of a taxi.
Police obliged and taxied him to the detachment, where he was held until he was sober.
He was released without any charges.
