Retailers host draws, extend hours for Christmas season

After a year of facing lockdowns and uncertainty in the age of Covid-19, local retailers are going all out to serve customers during the Christmas season.
The third section in this week’s paper, the Christmas Gift Guide, includes information on extended store hours for many businesses, as well as draws and events planned by local business groups.
Local businesses in all our communities in the area are counting on strong support from local shoppers this Christmas shopping season to help turn the corner on a challenging year.
Moosomin Moonlight Madness this Wednesday
In Moosomin, many retailers will be open until 9 pm for Moonlight Madness this Wednesday, December 2.
There has traditionally been a Moonlight Madness cash card distributed, which shoppers can have stamped at five participating businesses to enter to win $500, $250 or $100 in Moosomin Bucks.
This year that draw has been extended. Shoppers can have their Countdown to Christmas draw cards stamped at five businesses during Moonlight Madness and any time from December 1 to December 12 and enter to win.
Moonlight Madness and the Countdown to Christmas draw are organized by the Moosomin Chamber of Commerce.
Esterhazy Moonlight Madness this Thursday
In Esterhazy, Moonlight Madness will be this Thursday, December 3. At participating stores, shoppers can enter to win Esterhazy Bucks.
Esterhazy Moonlight Madness is sponsored by the town of Esterhazy and the Esterhazy Economic Development Committee.
Moosomin free movie Saturday
In Moosomin, there will be two matinees of 100 Per Cent Wolf at the Moosomin Community Theatre this Saturday, December 5 that are free for children 12 and under.
There will be shows at 11 am and 2 pm as smaller numbers are now allowed in the theatre.
Esterhazy free movie Saturday and Sunday
In Esterhazy there will be free showings of 100 Per Cent Wolf Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, December 6.
There will be shows at 2 pm and 7 pm Saturday and at 2 pm Sunday.
Moosomin twinkle tour
Rolna Pranke of RE/MAX Blue Chip Realty is sponsoring the Moosomin twinkle tour.
The best decorated home will win $200 in Moosomin Bucks, second prize is $150 in Moosomin Bucks, and third prize is $100 in Moosomin Bucks.

Light the Night in Esterhazy
This Christmas season, Esterhazy Bucks will be awarded to the top three houses in Esterhazy with the best Christmas decorations.
First prize is $250 in Esterhazy Bucks, second prize is $150 in Esterhazy Bucks, and third prize is $100 in Esterhazy Bucks.
People are encouraged to take photos of their favorite houses and send photos and addresses of their top three pics to town.esterhazy@sasktel.net.
$15,000 giveaway
Local businesses across the area are getting together to give away more than $20,000 in prizes in the World-Spectator’s 2020 Christmas Giveaway.
The main prize is $15,000 to reward one lucky shopper for shopping locally this Christmas season.
The winner will receive a chequebook and can spend their prize money at any of the participating businesses.
The draw will be made on December 22 and the winner will get the good news just before Christmas.
There are also 39 other prizes valued at more than $5,000 in total to be given away in the 2020 Christmas Giveaway.
Shoppers can enter at 47 locations in eight communities across the area.
This year there are participating businesses in Moosomin, Rocanville, Esterhazy, Kipling, Redvers, Virden, Langenburg and Whitewood.
