Dorothy Joyce Erickson passed away on June 24, 2022, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 87.

Dorothy was born August 18, 1934, at the Cottage Hospital in Melville, Sask., the first of ten children for her parents, William and Bertha Baron. She grew up surrounded by the love and support of her parents and brothers and sisters.

Dorothy attended school in Fenwood, Sask. She completed her nursing training in Yorkton and worked as a nurse in Balcarres. In 1958, she began her studies at Briercrest Bible College, planning to serve as a missionary.

Dorothy met Len Erickson through mutual friends in 1958 and they were married in July, 1959. They were devoted to each other throughout their lives together. They began their married life in Regina where they were blessed with three children: Paul, Trent and Leyton. They moved to Saskatoon in 1964 as Len was transferred there for his work in life insurance sales. Sharidene joined the family in 1965.

In 1970, Len and Dorothy moved to Moosomin, Sask., where they had purchased Chivers Agencies, a general insurance business. Marrilee joined the family in 1976.

Len and Dorothy were very involved at Moosomin Baptist Church and served in many different church ministries. Dorothy was a dedicated nurse for 40 years, nursing in Regina and Moosomin. She was an active and well-known community member.

Len and Dorothy retired in the 1990s. They were very busy during their retirement, travelling with their motorhome across the country and down to Mexico visiting family and friends.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents William (1996) and Bertha (2005), by her sister Marilyn (1999) and brother Gerald (2020), and by her husband Len (2021).

Dorothy is survived by: son Paul and Lynne, grandchildren Tali and Melissa; son Trent and Karen, grandson Evan and Alyssa, great-grandsons Micah, Arlo and Silas; grandson Lukas and Crystal, great-granddaughter Malia; son Leyton and Brenda; grandson Matthew and Anna, great-grandsons Myles and Noah, grandson Mitchell and Ashley and grandson Jeff; daughter Sharidene and Andrew Stobbe; daughter Marrilee and Matthew Boldt, grandchildren Maisey, Avery, Logan and Ainsley.

She is also survived by her brothers Royce, Mervin, Lorne, Clifton, Garth, and Dwight, her sister Joylyn, her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Dorothy will be remembered by her family and her many friends with great love and affection.

A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at 2 pm at Moosomin Baptist Church, 1117 Main Street, Moosomin, Sask.
