Daniel Eric Obal passed away peacefully at the Southeast Integrated Care Centre, Moosomin, Sask. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 with his family by his side.

Dan was born on April 8, 1949 to Eric and Bertha Obal in North Vancouver, B.C.

Dan will always be remembered for his wit and comebacks, as well as his bowler hat and walking stick. He was very proud of his family and was the go-to for his nieces and grandchildren. Football games will never be the same without Danny’s running comments and words of wisdom that the Rider coaches and players never seemed to pay any attention to!

Dan worked for many years on "the hoe." His favorite spots were river and mountain side digs, and we all loved the many stories of his working life that always left everyone laughing. You could not help but feel better after a chat with Danny.

Danny was predeceased by his parents Bertha and Eric Obal, his mother and father-in-law Kathryn and Bert Bisset and brother Bill. Danny is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Justyna (Bisset) Obal, daughter Angela, son-in-law Lorne, grandchildren Kathryn, Delaney and Liam; his sister Ruth and niece Suzanne (Ian) who was his Godchild and surrogate daughter; his brother Barry and nieces Tara, Shawna, Carla, Natasha and Dawn; as well as sisters-in-law Gwen and Edna.

We will all miss your smile, the sayings, the jokes and the stories.

Memorial service was held at the Moosomin Legion Hall on Saturday, November 9, 2013 with Rev. Michael Rossouw officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Moosomin and District Healthcare Foundation - Palliative Care in memory of Danny.
