Elsie Rose Hintz passed away on November 4, 2013.
Elsie was born in Whitewood, Sask. on March 26, 1941 to Joe and Florida Kalaman and was raised on the farm in St. John District.
Elsie’s love for sewing, baking, and babysitting developed at a young age while helping at home and being involved in 4-H. After finishing school she then put her love for children to work when she became a Mother’s Helper for various families.
She later married Ernie Hintz on December 31, 1960. After their marriage is when they moved to Wapella and started a family of their own. Elsie then became very active with various groups and organizations throughout the community. Living across from the rink and the ball diamond came in handy as she could always be found in the stands cheering on her family and others in her community. She could always be found doing what she loved most, baking, sewing, gardening, and babysitting. She was always doing whatever she could for numerous members in the community.
During her many years of babysitting, Elsie was very lucky to have gained a large extended family. She cherished visits from family and friends and will always be remembered for her love and kindness to others, her delicious baking, her great sewing skills, her beautiful flowers, and for her love of babysitting.
Elsie was predeceased by her loving husband Ernie, her parents Joe and Florida, and sister Ann, in-laws Henry and Anna, Gus, Gerhardt and John.
She will be sadly missed by her family: Peggy (Allan), Kevin (Wanda), Bobby (Tamara); Grandchildren Jennifer (Colin), Sandy (Brittany), Jamie (Amber), Danielle, Kyle, Megan; Great-grandchildren; Blakeley, Tenley, Lachlyn. She is also survived by her sisters: Maggie (Len), Teresa, Eva; Brother Ed (Janice); and in-laws Jim and Art (Velma), Lillian, Helen (Alvin), Freda (Tom), Lydia (Stewart); many nieces and nephews as well as the extended family, the McDonalds and Knuttila’s.
A celebration of Elsie’s life was held on Friday, November 8, 2013 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wapella, Sask.
