John Francis Ducharme was born on July 1, 1956 and passed away on January 21, 2024 at the Moosomin hospital with his loving wife by his side.
It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of John after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
John was born in Moosomin, Saskatchewan on July 1 to Margaret and Arthur Ducharme. They lived on a farm near St. Marthe and John started his schooling there. In 1969 the family moved to Welwyn where he continued his education.
As a young boy he worked on numerous farms in the area. Many summers he worked on his uncle’s farm, which he told me many stories about and the tricks he loved to play on them.
The one he loved to tell the most was when a piece had fallen off the baler and they were all looking for it. John found it and asked his Uncle Ross if this was what he was looking for—of course it was a super hot summer day. John thought they had been working long enough so he took the part and threw it as far as he could. That was the end of work for that day. Uncle Ross was upset at the time but many years later we all had a good laugh over it.
John had many jobs over the years but his true love was working with wood. John also worked pipeline for many years where he met many lifelong friends.
John loved many things but he loved nothing more than driving through the valley looking for wildlife which we did most Sundays. He loved camping, country music and spending time with friends and family.
John will be missed by so many, but no one will miss him more than his wife Darlene and his buddy Shadow.
Gone before him are his mom and dad, brother Rodger, sisters Edith and. Angie, nephew Arthur, and father and mother-in-law John and Emily Charles.
Left to mourn John are his wife Darlene, brothers Philip and Wilfred (Josie), sisters Fjola, Leona, and Alma (Howard), brother-in-law Dennis Charles, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life for John will be held at a later date.
