Richard Raab passed away peacefully December 31, 2013 at Southeast Integrated Care Centre at 69 years, succumbing to his battle with lung cancer. He was predeceased by his parents, an infant son James, and is survived by his sons Jared and Steve (Janice), grandchildren Spencer and Cody, siblings Cecil (Linda), Brian, Murray (Donna), Lester (Karen), Loren (Lorette), and Ann (Claude), and nieces and nephews.

Richard Raab was born September 4, 1944 in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, to parents Frances and Louis Raab. Rick grew up on the farm until age 18 when he left to live in Toronto, where he became a Watkins salesman. Soon after, heavy construction would be the occupation Rick followed in western Canada for the duration of his working life-logging, road building, and trucking. He had a natural talent to operate almost anything proficiently.

In the late 1970s he moved to Fairlight to start farming. A few years later, he started his own business, Raab Landclearing and Excavating. Rick played an active role in the Fairlight community. He enjoyed slopitch, cards, pool, and all the gossip that came with it. He finished his construction career with Carsons Welding late in 2012 when his health started to fail, and was diagnosed with lung cancer in June 2013.

Many thanks to those that supported Rick in his final days; family, friends, and the staff at Southeast Integrated Health Centre.
