Adam passed away peacefully at the Southeast Integrated Care Centre, Moosomin, Saskatchewan on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, with son Ron at his side.

He was born July 13, 1929 in Regina. He was one of 10 children born to George and Elizabeth Dietrich (nee Lichtenwald). Adam lived in Regina during his early years, moving to the family farm near Killaly as a child, and subsequently relocating to the Toronto area in 1939.

Adam worked in the construction industry as a young man, and also enjoyed the family farm at Innisfil, Ontario. In 1951, he met the love of his life, Olive Gray, a Saskatchewan girl who was working in Toronto. They were married on November 7, 1953. They returned to Saskatchewan in the fall of 1955, where they purchased a farm near Moosomin.

Adam was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He worked hard on the farm, and was active with the Knights of Columbus, St. Mary’s Parish Council, served on the Moosomin Co-op Board, and in 1980 was presented with a lifetime membership by the Saskatchewan Stock Growers’ Association for his support and contributions.

In retirement, Adam established a saskatoon u-pick orchard where he devoted countless hours to maintaining the trees and grounds, as well as adding asparagus and raspberries to the operation. In retirement, Adam and Olive enjoyed many trips, including Europe, Alaska, Yukon, Churchill, the Maritimes, Newfoundland and several destinations throughout the United States. Adam particularly cherished the annual fishing trip with his brothers to Northern Ontario.

Adam was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Olive, his parents, George and Elizabeth Dietrich, as well as sisters Mary, Eileen and Erna. He is lovingly remembered by his children Ron Dietrich (Isabelle), Marie Dietrich Leurer (Bob) and Claire Dermody (Bryan), as well as 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Adam is also lovingly remembered by his six brothers George (Cathie), Charles (Helaine), Jim (Flo), Herb (Patti), Ray (Marlene) and Ron (Barb), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral mass was held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Moosomin at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, with Fr. Dennis Remot officiating. Prayer vigil from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church was on Monday, January 13 at 7:30 p.m. Interment took place in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff at the Southeast Integrated Care Centre in Moosomin, and Pasqua Hospital in Regina for their kind and compassionate care during Dad’s final days.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity or to the Moosomin and District Healthcare Foundation in memory of Adam.
