Dr. Johnson was the son of William and Hannah Johnson. He was born on the family farm at Langenburg, Sask. on March 29, 1925.

He attended school in Langenburg. He joined the Air Force in November 1943 and transferred to the Army in late November 1944. He was sent to Borden, Ont. for basic training and took specialist training in the Canadian Armor Corps and completed training in 1945. Don was to be sent to the Pacific area, but the atomic bomb was dropped on Japan and he was discharged in March of 1946.
Don then went into construction in Alberta. The work was mainly building irrigation canals in the summer and clearing seismic lines for oil companies in the winter. In the fall of 1954 he was enrolled in the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Ont. He practiced in Carnduff and Langenburg, Sask., Portage La Prairie, Man. and lastly in Moosomin and retired from veterinary practice in 1995.
Don married Nellie Simpson on Nov. 9, 1963 in Portage La Prairie, Man.

He bought the Fleming farm in 1973 where he practiced organic farming. He raised grain, cattle and poultry organically-all chemical free, no vaccines or toxic sprays, pesticides or chemical fertilizers since 1976. He lived on the farm until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Hannah Johnson, brothers Waldo, Gordon, Einer, Mayo and Quinton, sisters Esmer and Eileen.

He is survived by his wife Nellie and many nephewS and nieces and friends.

A celebration of Don’s life is planned for a later date.
